| Netherlands To Sign TIEAs |

The Dutch government has united on plans to conclude tax
information exchange agreements (TIEAs) with Uruguay, Mauritius and Brunei, in a
further endeavour to combat tax evasion. The proposal, put forward recently by
Dutch Finance Minister Jan Kees De Jager, was adopted by the cabinet.
On the basis of the bilateral TIEAs, the Netherlands will be able to request
targeted information pertaining to savings, dividends and profit distributions
from the relevant tax authorities in the other country. According to the Dutch
Finance Ministry, up until now, similar agreements have been signed with over
30 countries. In the first half of the year, tax information exchange agreements
were signed with Switzerland, Hong Kong, Belize, Saint Lucia, Gibraltar, the
Marshall Islands and Liberia.
The government aims to sign the treaties with Uruguay, Mauritius and Brunei
in the second half of 2010.
